Warm, bronze earth tones mixed with wine red make this a stand-out huipil woven in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec village of San Mateo del Mar on the Oaxaca coast by the family of famed, award-winning weaver Francisca Palafox, who is featured as a Grand Master of Mexican Folk Art. The back-strap loom weaving is so fine that the birds, animals, palms, and foxes are almost hidden in the supplementary weft cloth.  Another distinguishing feature of a masterfully made textile is the four-selvedge finish; there are no hems here. All edges are smooth, making for a beautiful drape. Measures 26″ wide x 38″ long.
