Turquoise Roosters Blouse, Oaxaca Coast

Heavily embroidered turquoise cotton on traditional cream-colored cotton we call manta here in Mexico.  It comes from the village of Santa Maria Huazolotitlan in the mountains above the Oaxaca coast, made in one of our favorite cooperatives. The symbols of the rooster and double-headed eagle are part of the culture and embedded in their textiles as indicative of indigenous identity. Measures 23” wide x 26” long.
