Handwoven on the backstrap loom in Tenejapa, Chiapas, by a family of weavers and pompom makers, this stylish huipil (long blouse/tunic) is embellished with fine supplementary weft designs created with tones of cochineal — purple, mauve, red, cherry red, and magenta dyed on fine handspun wool. The square neck and detailed weaving around the hem sets this piece off as unique. It is one-of-a-kind and easy to wear in spring, summer and fall.
