Oaxaca is known for her textile diversity, and this adults-only walking tour is an introduction to local textile traditions. Wear comfortable shoes because we’ll cover about 12 city blocks to visit markets and galleries, learning what goes into creating quality pieces. Many are unique and tell a story about family, community, beliefs, and spirituality.
Your trilingual guide will be Eric Chavez Santiago, a weaver and natural dye expert who was the founding director of education at the Museo Textile de Oaxaca. By the end of the tour, you'll be better able to spot the hallmarks of high-quality, authentic textiles—making you a savvier shopper.
