Be a Participant, Not Just an Observer

From hands-on workshops to multi-day tours, our experiences immerse you in the local culture for a deeper connection to people and place.

Drive down village roads to meet artisans in their homes and workshops as they create stunning works of art, eat indigenous meals in local comedors, participate in cultural activities the local way, and use your hands to create something. We coordinate directly with locals based on trusted, personal relationships in the spirit of meaningful cultural exchange.

Find the Right Tour For You

Why Artisans?

Artisans offer a rare glimpse into local village life so we invite you into their homes and workshops to learn about their craft, their family life, and their role in the community. We visit weavers, potters, embroiderers, folk artists, mezcaleros—makers who do things the traditional way. If you’d like to take a piece home with you, 100% of your purchase goes directly into their pocket.

Choose Your Own Dates

We set the itinerary, you pick the dates. From half-day walking tours to 3-day natural dye workshops, we’ll make the arrangements so all you need to do is select your date(s) and show up. Select ‘Custom Dates’ from the filter above or click the button below and we’ll do it for you.

People Love Travelling With Us

“Each tour goes deep into a specific subject, and the knowledgeable bilingual guides are amazing. I love the emphasis on the people, culture, and centuries-old arts of Mexico”

– Flora Graham

“Norma and Eric are generous and warm-hearted, their synergy fueling a lovely camaraderie among the group. Their well-organized itinerary keeps us moving. Local experts come along to enhance learning and deepen the educational aspect of the trip. We meet as strangers and leave as friends, with a thirst for another trip.”

– Elisabeth

“All of Oaxaca Cultural Navigator’s trips are intimate and deeply personal experiences—I would not even call them tours. Norma personally knows all of the incredibly talented artisans we visit, as well as their families. A well-known weaver himself, Eric’s extensive knowledge about the traditions and techniques of each community provides the perfect balance to Norma’s insights and abiding love for Mexico’s indigenous cultures.”

– Dianne Manning
